WAYNE L. SHEAFFER

Wayne L. Sheaffer, 78, of Carlisle, passed away on Wednesday, April 1, 2026 at UPMC Carlisle Hospital.

Born April 11, 1947 in Carlisle, he was the son of the late Glenn and Mary (Mentzer) Sheaffer.

Mr. Sheaffer was retired from Frog, Switch & Manufacturing Co., where he was an overhead crane operator. Earlier in his life he had worked as a taxi cab driver and at the former Betty’s Diner.

He was a member of Eagles Aerie #1299, Carlisle and loved spending time with family, especially hi grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara Monismith and a sister, Mary Hornand two brothers, Lloyd and Leroy Sheaffer. 

Surviving are his wife, Barbara (Deihl) Sheaffer and children, Wayne Sheaffer, Jr. (Marcie), Carlisle, Jeffrey Sheaffer (Nancy), Meyersdale, Scott Sheaffer (Michaeline) West Virginia, Wendy Sheaffer (Bill), Shippensburg, Wayne Monismith, Carlisle and Shane Sheaffer (Brandi) Carlisle. Other survivors include his brother, Donald Mentzer (Sharon), Oklahoma, sisters Sandy Ludwig (Merle), Mechanicsburg, Brenda Emlet, Newville, Linda Garris (Charles), Newville as well as 10 grandchildren: Britt, Matt, Justin, Cailee, Joey, Jessica, Mikayla, Becky, Jeff and Ted and several great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 7, 2026 from the Ronan Funeral Home, 255 York Road, Carlisle. Burial will follow in Waggoner’s Unite Methodist Cemetery, Carlisle. There will be a viewing on Tuesday from 10:00 AM until time of service at 11:00 AM.
