Virginia Myers

Virginia B. Myers, 83, of Loysville, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, at Holy Spirit Hospital in Camp Hill, with her daughter by her side.

Born and raised in the Loysville area, Virginia spent her entire life in the community she loved. She graduated from Blain Union High School in May 1960 and later earned her nursing degree from The Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, graduating in September 1963.

Virginia devoted many years of service as a Registered Nurse, retiring from Carlisle Hospital and Stonebridge Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Duncannon. In addition to her nursing career, she faithfully served her churches as organist for St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Andersonburg and Zion Lutheran Church in Blain. She also volunteered her time delivering meals for the Blain Senior Center.

A lifelong and active member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Andersonburg, Virginia’s faith and dedication to others were central to her life.

She took great pride in caring for her property, flowers, and blueberry bushes, and she especially cherished the friendship she shared with Hazel Simonton and the many adventures they enjoyed together.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Helen (Shope) Bender; her brother, Gary Bender; her sister, Kathleen Bender-Smith; her husband, Everett Myers; and her beloved cat, Lucy.

Virginia is survived by her daughter, Mary K. Wahl (William Bartho) of Loysville; her grandson, Alex J. Wahl of Loysville; her brother, Terry Bender (Donna) of Loysville; Mark Wahl of Waymart, PA; and many loving nephews, nieces, great-nephews, and great-nieces.

Private family services will be held at a later date.
