VIRGINIA  A. MASCHMEYER

Virginia Anne (Brown)  Maschmeyer, 67, of Carlisle, passed away Sunday, September 23, 2012 at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia.

Known as “Bonnie”, she was born in Philadelphia, PA on September 26, 1944, the daughter of the late James  and Anne Marie (Monahan) Brown.  Bonnie was the widow of Robert W. Maschmeyer, whom she had married on September 19, 1964.

Bonnie graduated from the West Philadelphia Catholic Girls School, class of 1962 and received her Practical Nurses license form the Harrisburg-Steelton-Highspire Technical School in 1981. She spent most of her professional career with the Claremont Nursing and Rehabilitation Center as a Licensed Practical Nurse and as a teller at Members 1st Federal Credit Union.  On Christmas Day in 2006, she received the gift of life- a lung transplant performed at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.

She is survived by her children, sons  Robert (husband of Lorie) of Mechanicsburg, Brian T. (husband of Nicole) of Carlisle, and Craig M. ( and fiancee’ Cori Troxell) of Allentown; daughter:  Jennifer A. ( and companion Joe Zorn) of Carlisle; sister:  Mary (Brown) Dreger of Newtown Square, PA and brother:  James Brown of Newtown Square, PA; five grandchildren:  Brittney, William, Christian, Cole and Cooper; plus eight nephews and four nieces.

Visitation will be held at the Ronan Funeral Home, 255 York Road, Carlisle on Friday, September 28, 2012 at 5:30 P.M. followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 7:00 P. M.  Cremation was private.  Bonnie and her husband will be interred at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, PA.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions may be made to the Trustees of the University of Pennsylvania, Penn Medicine, Development 3535, Market Street Suite 750, Philadelphia, PA 19104.  Please note the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.  Contributions may also be directed to St. Jude’s Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942.
