VIRGINIA B. CARROLL

Virginia B. Carroll, 94, of Carlisle, passed away on Sunday, August 23, 2026 at The Residence at Carlisle.

Born April 21, 1932 in Butler, PA, she was the daughter of the late Paul and Dorothy (Setzenfand) Lawhead. She was the widow of Col. (retired) Anthony Carroll, who died April 29, 2013.

Early in her life she had been employed at the Bonnybrook Sewing Factory and Woolworth’s, both in Butler. She was a very accomplished artist across many mediums and had taught oil painting for many years.

Always supportive of her husband, she and the children followed him to his many postings throughout his Army career. She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Carlisle.

She was the last of her family generation.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Dotty Price in 2016.

Surviving are a daughter, Debra Cline of Colorado and a son Daniel Carroll of Carlisle, as well as five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 1, 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Ronan Funeral Home, 255 York Road, Carlisle, with Deacon Billy Centenera officiating. Burial will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Anville, PA immediately following the service. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Tuesday from 10:00 AM until time of service.
