COL (RET) RICHARD M. HURLEY

Col (Ret) Richard M. Hurley, 97 of Carlisle, passed away Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at Green Ridge Village, Newville.

Born September 5, 1920 in Bloserville, he was the son of the late Francis L. and Edna Mae (Mentzer) Hurley.  His wife, Jeanne D. (Dworzak) Hurley preceded him in death on March 20, 2016.

Col. Hurley retired from the U S Air Force in 1971 after 30 years of honorable service to his country.  He received his Master’s Degree in International Affairs from George Washington University in 1964.

He was preceded in death by  son Patrick and a brother Paul.

He was a member of The Meeting House, Carlisle.

Richard was much loved by his family.   In retirement, Dick and his wife spent 30 years wintering on the beautiful beaches of Mexico in their RV making lifelong friendships.  Summers were spent traveling around the world visiting family and seeking adventure with Jeanne.

Surviving are  two sons:  Michael Hurley of Deming, NM and Hudson Marts of Atlanta, GA; two daughters:  Marianne Marts of Watkins Glen, NY and Christina Goedecke of Carlisle; 8 Grandchildren;  14 Great Grandchildren;   2 Great Great Grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held on  Wednesday, February 28, 2018 at The Meeting House, 1155 Walnut Bottom Road, Carlisle, with the Rev. Kenneth Hoke and Rev. Alan Robinson co-officiating.  Burial will be at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, with full military honors.  Visitation will be at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 A. M. until time of service.
