Mary “Jane” Kitzmiller (Carl) of Carlisle passed peacefully at Hampden Medical Center June 9, 2023 at the age of 75.
Born September 11, 1947 in Waynesboro Hospital, she was the daughter of the late Lester L. and Pauline (Bardine) Carl.
Jane was raised on a farm and she was proud to be a farmer’s daughter. Jane went to Shippensburg High School, class of 1966. She also took courses at Dickinson College for Child Daycare.
Jane was a military wife to the late John R. Kitzmiller who passed away in 2007 after 40 years of marriage. She longed for the day that she would join her husband in the afterlife. As a military wife and mother, she raised her 2 daughters Deborah Ann Arnold (Richard) from Shippensburg and Tereasa Jane Houtz (Steven) from Landisburg. She taught her girls all one valuable lesson, to be self-sufficient, be independent and, no matter what, be true to themselves. She raised her girls to be fierce independent women. Jane was known for her deep faith in the Lord and Savior.
She was a proud grandmother to her grandson Troy William Porter Jr ( Megan), granddaughters Dawn Marie Ott, (Travis) Amber Nichole Porter, ( Cheyenne)and Shaina Leigh Stouffer. She had 9 Great Grandchildren, Connor Porter, Lillian Coy, Troy Porter lll, Madalyn Rhodes, Mason Rhoades, Emma Porter, Trystan Porter, Hadlee Ott and Kolten Nesiba.
Jane, besides enjoying being a wife, mother, grandmother and GG, dearly loved her multiple pets down through the years. Every dog and cat she had was spoiled with her love. She also enjoyed collecting 100s of Salt and Pepper Shakers. Jane never went or lived anywhere that she wouldn’t touch the hearts of everyone around her. If a friend was in need she would give them her last dollar.
Also surviving is her brother Lester W. Carl (Jane ; deceased ) of Vienna VA and sister Doris Holtry (Jerry ) of Shippensburg, nephews Dennis Carl of Alexandria VA and Kevin Carl of Vienna VA along with multiple other nephews and nieces in Keyser WV and Virginia.
She was preceded in death by her brother Richard D. Carl, a baby sister, Carol Ann Carl, who died in infancy, and a baby brother, James Edward Carl, who also died in infancy.
She worked at the L’Aiglon Sewing Factory in Shippensburg and at the Carlisle Army Barracks Daycare as an aid.
