LINWOOD A. HOOVER

Linwood A. Hoover, 83, of Mechanicsburg passed away on June 10, 2026 at Penn State Hampden Medical Center.

Born May 8, 1943 in Carlisle, he was the son of the late Seldon P. Hoover and H. Romaine (Leib) Hoover Sheaffer.

Lin was a 1962 graduate of the former Green Park Union High School. He then enlisted in the U S Army, serving in Vietnam. He retired from AMP Inc where he was an Electro Plater. After reitiring from AMP, he worked at Allenberry Resort Inn and Playhouse as a groundskeeper and also at Strock Farms where he helped process turkeys for the Holidays.

He was a lifelong member of Mt. Zion Lutheran Church, Boiling Springs. Lin was also a proud member of the Mechanicsburg American Legion, the Boiling Springs VFW Post and the Knights of Pythias, Boiling Springs.

Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Donna Lee (Zimmerman) Hoover, a son Timothy W. (June) Hoover of Mechanicsburg, a grandson, John J. Gerneth, III (Madeline) of St. Petersburg, FL, a great grandson, Vincent Gerneth (his Little Buddy) and two brothers, Edward Hoover of Apollo, PA and Richard Hoover of Selinsgrove, PA. He is also survived by one niece and four nephews.

He was preceded in death by a brother, James E. Hoover and four nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 12:30 PM Tuesday, June 16, 2026 at Mt. Zion Lutheran Church, 325 Old Stonehouse Rd., S, Boiling Springs, PA, with the Rev. Jennifer Toburen officiating. Burial with military honors will be in Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens, Carlisle. A viewing will be held at the church on Tuesday from 11:00 AM until time of service.
