Linda Carol

Carlisle
Linda Carol Brocious
September 11, 1939 – August 20, 2026
Linda Carol Brocious, 86, of Carlisle, PA, passed away peacefully on August 20, 2026, of natural causes. Sweet, caring, and endlessly supportive, Linda was the heart of her family, and she showed her love the way she knew best — by keeping everyone fed. She loved to cook and bake, and her kids and grandkids always looked forward to a slice of her chocolate cake whenever they came to visit.
Linda was born September 11, 1939, in Mayport, PA, to Russell Clair Beck and Helen Ruth (Whitacre) Beck. She graduated from Dayton Joint High School in 1957, the same year as Allen Leroy Brocious, whom she first met back in the 8th grade.
On June 13, 1959, in Dayton, PA, she married the love of her life, Allen, who survives her. Together they shared 67 years of marriage. Allen served 20 years in the United States Air Force, and Linda was by his side through it all — raising their two sons largely on her own during his overseas deployments, and keeping their family grounded and close through the many moves that came with military life. The family settled in Carlisle, PA in 1977.
In her thirties, Linda took up ceramics, and pieces she made still fill the homes of her children today. After ceramics, Linda began quilting, which became one of her great passions. She was an avid quilter, and her home is filled with the quilts, fabric, and tools she collected and used over the years. She made quilts for her own family, for her grandchildren, and for her church, and she loved attending quilt shows — including many trips to Williamsburg — where she could browse the latest machines, patterns, and materials.
In June 1984, Linda graduated from the Academy of Medical Arts and Business in Harrisburg, PA, earning her certificate in Dental Assisting. She went on to work for several years as a dental assistant in Carlisle before moving to the front desk, where she managed scheduling and billing.
Linda was a devoted member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Boiling Springs, PA, from the time the family moved to Carlisle. She and Allen were fixtures at Sunday services, setting up and cleaning up together and hanging the church's seasonal banners. She was an active member of the church sewing group, helping to make quilts for Lutheran World Relief and backpacks for school supply kits. She also gave her time to the church's care kit ministry, helping assemble school care kits, personal care kits, and baby care kits for those in need.
Linda was a die-hard Pittsburgh Steelers fan who never missed a game with Allen by her side, ringing her cowbell every time the Steelers scored a touchdown.
Linda cherished the family's annual trips to Ocean City, NJ, where she loved playing with her kids and grandkids, walking the boardwalk, collecting seashells, and enjoying a bowl of peach ice cream.
Linda is survived by her husband, Allen Leroy Brocious of Carlisle, PA; her sons, Larry Allen Brocious (Elizabeth) of Apalachin, NY, and Michael Leroy Brocious (Sandy) of Downingtown, PA; her grandchildren, Patricia Rose Brocious of New York, NY, Gabrielle Marie Brocious of Apalachin, NY, Derek Matthew Brocious of Downingtown, PA, and Lance Dawson Brocious of Raleigh, NC; and her younger sister, Lorraine First of Ohio.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Russell Clair Beck and Helen Ruth (Whitacre) Beck, and her brother, Larry Beck.
Visitation (10am) and memorial services (11am) will be held on September 3rd at St. John's Lutheran Church, 111 Walnut St., Boiling Springs, PA, followed by burial at Fort Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church, PO Box 46, Boiling Springs, PA 17007.
