Janice M. Coover

Janice M. Coover 84, of Carlisle, PA passed away at home on Sunday October 15^th, 2023 surrounded by her loving family.  She was born in Hagerstown, Maryland on September 30^th, 1939, to the late Simon and Ruth (Shelly) Shank.

Janice was a 1957 graduate of Cumberland Valley High School.  She worked as an Educational Aide at Cumberland Valley High School for 22 years and cared deeply for her students and wanted the best for them.

She was a member of the Carlisle First Church of God, Valley Grange #1360 Lewisberry, and a former member of Farm Women Group #20. 

Janice enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, cooking, baking, working out at the gym, and studying the Bible.

She is survived by her husband of 65 years Roy L. Coover, two sons Douglas W. (Cheryl) Coover of Carlisle, Samuel R. (LeAnne) of East Berlin, one daughter Darlene R. (Richard) Greenwalt of Mechanicsburg, one sister Glenda J. (Robert) Shatzer of Chambersburg, seven grandchildren Jedidiah D. (Micah) Coover, Abigail E. (Aaron) Elliott, Rebecca S. (Galen) Hoover, Benjamin M. (Cayla) Coover, Nicholas R. (Rachael) Coover, Alexander Q. Coover, Erika L. Coover and eight great-grandchildren Elijah, Hannah, Judah, Nechama, Colleen, Ronan, and Elena Rae Coover, and Ezekiel Elliott.  She was preceded in death by four brothers, Larry Shank, Simon Shank Jr, Kenneth Shank, Daniel Shank, and one sister Donna Oberholtzer.

Funeral Services will be held at 9:30a.m. Saturday October 21^st at Carlisle First Church of God, 705 Glendale Street, Carlisle with the Reverends Michael Poe and Greg Hench officiating. Interment will be in Rolling Green Cemetery, Camp Hill.  A visitation will be held on Friday October 20^th from 6-8p.m. at Carlisle First Church of God.
