HAROLD W. SWARTZ

Harold W. Swartz, 76, of Carlisle, died Tuesday, October 16, 2012 in the Thornwald Home, Carlisle.

Born November 4, 1935 in Loysville, Perry County, he was s son of the late C. Harold and Helen R. (Weibley) Swartz.  His first wife, Mary (Shambaugh) Swartz preceded him in death in 1984.

Mr. Swartz was a graduate of Perry Joint High School, Class of 1953.  He received his Bachelor's degree from Shippensburg State Teachers College, now Shippensburg University in 1957 and his Master’s degree from Rutgers University in 1962.

He taught mathematics in the Northern York County School District for 40 years.  Harold was a member of the Wesleyan Church of the Cross, Carlisle.

Surviving are his wife:  Pauline (Brenneman) Hovis Swartz;  three sons:  David and wife Shelly of Loysville; Larry and wife Chris of Biglerville and Mark and wife Marjorie of Mechanicsburg; two sisters:  H. Lois Reasey of Greencastle and Sally A. Holmes of Midland, MI and 10 grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 20, 2012 from the Wesleyan Church of the Cross, 430 B Street, Carlisle, with the Rev. Daniel R. Mikesell, his pastor, officiating.  Burial will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Boiling Springs.  Viewing will be at the church on Saturday from 9 :00 to 11:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to his church, 430 B Street, Carlisle, Pa 17013
