GERALDINE L. RONAN

Geraldine L. “Gerry” Ronan, 88, of Carlisle, passed away on Friday, December 30, 2016 at home.

Born August 12, 1928 in Burnham, Pa, she was the only child of George Russell and Dorothy B. (Wilson) Snook.  She was the widow of William R. Ronan who died February 3, 2013.

Mrs. Ronan was a graduate of Mechanicsburg High School and Dickinson College, where she received her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science.

She retired from the U. S. Army War College, Carlisle.  Her last position there was as the Administrative Assistant to the Director of the Center for Strategic Leadership.  She had also previously worked as the  Secretary to the Chief Medical Officer at the former Mechanicsburg Naval Depot.

Gerry was a member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Boiling Springs, where she had taught Vacation Bible School and was a Choir Mother for many years.

Surviving are two sons:  Lynn A. Ronan and wife Sherry of Carlisle and Brian L.  Ronan and wife Kimberly of Boiling Springs and six grandchildren:  Lindsay (and fiance’ Zachary Hyndman), Connor (and fiancee’ Anna Wenger), Trevor, Michael, Matthew and Morgen Ronan.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A. M. Saturday, January 7, 2017 from the Ronan Funeral Home, 255 York Road, Carlisle, with the Rev. Deborah L. Brumbaugh officiating.  Burial will follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Boiling Springs.  Viewing will be at the funeral home on Friday evening from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P. M. and also on Saturday from 10:00 A. M. until time of service.
