FERMAN L. LANDIS

Ferman L. Landis, 102, of Boiling Springs, died Sunday, September 24, 2023 at his home.  

Born July 24, 1921 in Juniata County, he was the son of J. Raymond Landis and Ella Messimer Landis.

Mr. Landis was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and great, great grandfather.  He was a WWII Veteran, a dairy farmer, avid hunter and was loved by everyone who ever met him.  He knew not a stranger.  During his 102 years of life, he has had the opportunity to watch many generations grow up and pass along many of his life’s moral and values.  He was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 8851 in Boiling springs, serving as Post Commander for many years.  

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Dorothy of 66 years, Deanna Marie Landis, infant granddaughter, Tyler Shope, great-grandson, Seth Landis, great grandson, three brothers and his favorite dog, Bandit.  

Surviving are his two children, daughter, LouAnn Shope of Shermansdale, PA and son, Donald F. Landis of Boiling Springs.  Seven Grandchildren, Mary Ingram, Robert Landis, Dawn Landis-Lindsey, Paul Landis, Jason Landis, Dennis Shope Jr, and Justin Shope.  Six Great-Gandchildren, Jerod Knisely, Amanda George, Ryker Knisely, Kyler Knisely, Kayla Landis, and Brandon Shope.  Five Great-Great Grandchildren, Madison Knisely, Jaxon Shope, Chayson Shope, Owen Shope and Lilly Shope.  

Visitation services will be held, Thursday, September 28 from 6pm to 8pm and Friday, 10am to 11am with service to follow at the Ronan Funeral Home, 255 York Road, Carlisle PA.   Burial will be in the Westminister Memorial Gardens,  1159 Newville Road, Carlisle, PA immediately following the service with full military honors.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the VFW Post 8851, 26 Hamilton Road A Boiling Springs, PA 17007.

Following the burial, the family would like to invite everyone to join them for dinner at the VFW Post 8851 in Boiling Springs.
