ESTHER A McCALISTER

Esther A. McCalister, 88, of Carlisle, passed away on Wednesday, March 11, 2020 at home surrounded by her loving family.

Born August 28, 1931 in Carlisle, she is the daughter of the late Mervin H and Iva V. (Stuart) Shambaugh.

Esther was retired from Giant Foods.  She greatly enjoyed sewing. Earlier in life she had been a 4H leader and a Sunday school teacher.

She was a member of Wesleyan Church of the Cross.

Surviving are her husband:  Oliver B. McCalister and her children: Deborah E. Weidner, Lorraine I. Beecher, Teresa M. Henry, Oliver S. McCalister, and Mervin C. McCalister; 10 grandchildren, and her brothers: Arden, Elmer, and Richard Shambaugh.  Esther was preceded in death by her brothers Paul and Roy Shambaugh.

Funeral services will be held at  11:00 A. M. on Tuesday, March 17, 2020  at Wesleyan Church of the Cross, 430 B Street, Carlisle, with the Rev. Daniel R. Mikesell officiating. Visitation will be at the church on Tuesday from 10:00 A. M.  until time of service. Private interment will be in Westminster Memorial Gardens, Carlisle.
