EMORY L. SHUGHART

Emory L. Shughart, 87, of Boiling Springs, passed away on Sunday, July 28, 2019 at the Carlisle Hospital.

Born June 25, 1932 in Cumberland County, he was the son of the late Nelson H. Shughart Sr and Ruth (Wert) Shughart.

He retired from Edwin L. Heim Co., Harrisburg and previously worked for 16 years at the former Rufe Chevrolet, Carlisle.

Mr. Shughart was a graduate of Boiling Springs High School. He honorably served his country in 1953-54 as Private First Class, Battery C, 265th Field Artillery Battalion, U.S. Army.

He attended Grantham Church Brethren in Christ and is widely known for his lifelong passion for trains.

Surviving are his wife of 61 years: Bette Jean (Bear) Shughart; sons: Alan Shughart (Lisa) of Harleysville, PA and Larry Shughart of Jacksonville, FL; daughter: Lucy Schlenker (Marty) of Grapevine, TX; brother: Nelson H. Shughart Jr of Newville; sisters: Gladys Kammerer of Aspers; Gloria Rueger of Carlisle; Sylvania Negley of Carlisle; grandchildren: Ruth, Mabel, and Conrad Schlenker and a dear aunt: Geraldine Gladhill of Carlisle

He was preceded in death by his brother Gabriel and his sister Joyce Coffey.

A memorial service will be held at the Ronan Funeral Home, 255 York Road, Carlisle on Saturday August 3, 2019 at 2:00 PM with the Reverend Dr. John Yeatts officiating. Private burial will be in Springville Cemetery, Boiling Springs. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Saturday from1:00 PM until time of service.
