DOUGLAS B. THOMPSON

Douglas B. Thompson, 70, of Carlisle, died Friday, May 27, 2011 at home.

Born Jan. 11, 1941 in Carlisle, he was a son of the late William T. and Anna (Thomas) Thompson.

Mr. Thompson was a graduate of Carlisle High School and was a proud veteran of the U. S. Army, having served during the Vietnam War.

He retired from the former AMP, Inc.,  after 35 years of service and retired from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania after 9 years of service.

Douglas was a member of Christian Life Assembly, Camp Hill and the Haines-Stackfield American Legion Post # 826, Carlisle.

Surviving are his wife:  Carolyn D. (Bridges) Thompson; a daughter:  Rhonda RIchardson of Harrisburg; two step daughters:  Bridgette Lawrence of Rocky Mountain, NC and Arlecia Williams of Columbia, MD; two sisters:  Mary Crawford of Harrisburg and Betty Ortiz of Carlisle; nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held at 7:00 p.m. Friday, June 3, 2011 from the Ronan Funeral Home, 255 York Road, Carlisle with the Rev. Ron Smith officiating.  Burial will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery at the convenience of the family.  Visitation will be at the funeral home on Friday from 6-7 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Penn State Hershey Medical Center, Myeloid Leukemia, 500 University Dr. Hershey, PA 17033.
