DOROTHY A. NEAL
Dorothy A. (Shearer) Neal, 80, died May 27, 2013 in Boulder, CO. A loving wife, mother, sisters, grandmother and friend, she will be missed by many.
Dorothy had lived in Lafayette, CO with her son for ten years. She had previously lived in Colorado Springs and Divide, CO, Flower Mound, TX, East Brunswick, NJ and several Pennsylvania cities.
Born Oct. 26, 1932 in Mechanicsburg, Pa, she was a daughter of the late David F. and Essie E. (Shughart) Shearer. She graduated from Boiling Springs High School in 1951 and married Raymond K. Neal of Livingston, MT on July 1, 1960 in Carlisle. Ray preceded her in death on June 17, 1997.
She had been employed for several years at the former Reeves-Hoffman Crystal Plant in Carlisle.
Dorothy will be lovingly remembered as a kind, nurturing mother and grandmother. Her children will miss her ability to always laugh, her faith and determination and her examples of friendship, sisterhood and unity of family. Dorothy always cherished her experiences growing up on the “ridge” surrounded by loving family. She enjoyed her adventures as the wife of a Boy Scout executive which moved them to many new cities and watching her children and grandchildren grow into their own lives. We send her off with all our love and may she rest in peace.
She was preceded in death by her eldest sister: Norma Smyers (Donald) of Mt. Holly Springs.
Surviving are her two children: Daniel A. Neal (Christine) of Lafayette, CO and Kathryn E. Hopkins (Ronald) of Rancho Palos Verdes, CA; two sisters: Freda K. Bender (Robert) of Mechanicsburg and Ida M. Eppley (widow of William) of Carlisle; beloved grandchildren: Clara F. Hopkins, Benjamin D. Hopkins and Jayce R. Neal and many nieces and nephews and their families.
Graveside services will be held at 10:30 A. M. Saturday, July 13, 2013 at Mt. Zion Cemetery, Boiling Springs.
Ronan Funeral Home, Carlisle, is assisting the family with local arrangements.
