Carole Heidecker, age 83 of Boiling Springs, PA, went to be with our Lord on Wednesday, September 29, 2022. Carole suffered a hemorrhagic stroke in 2013 and battled it for many years with Bob, who cared for her at home
Carole was born May 13, 1939 in Blossburg, PA to the late Ronald D. West and Janet B. Douglass. She was married to the love of her life, Robert T. Heidecker, Jr. for 58 years. They were married in Mansfiled, PA in 1964. She was a graduate of Mansfield High School in 1957. She led the annual Mansfield Parade regularly on her Palomino horse, "Nugget" carrying the American flag. Carole also attended St. Petersburg junior college in Florida.
Carole was a stay-at-home mom to her two children. Later, she was a self-employed demonstrator of retail products for 10 years.
Carole was very active in Girl Scouts and was a Brownie leader for many years, while living in Mifflintown, Ebensburg, and Clarion, PA.
Carole worked at the Counsel of Church's food bank in Carlisle for approximately 25 years interviewing applicatns for assistance. She got her husband, Bob, involved when he retired.
She and her husband Bob were founding members of the South Middleton Swim Club. She started and operated the concession stand for it and the high school swim team, for 3 years. She was a trained, certified swim official. She and Bob delivered the Patriot News when their son was away at swim meets. Carole was active with the Boiling Springs High School Band. She served as Vice President to the Band Association for several years.
Carole loved Children's Lake, formerly known as Boiling Springs Lake. Carole and her husband were one of the original founding members of the Civic Association and was active in assisting her husband with tree and shrub planting at the lake. Carole also assisted with maintenance gardening activities. She co-chaired the Boiling Springs Civic Association fruit stand at Foundry Day for many years. She was an active member of the Carlisle Reformed Presbyterian Church since 1982. She and Bob were some of the original founders.
Carole is survived by her husband, Bob, a daughter Ann Laurie VanAmburg of Louisiana and a son, Dr. Robert T. Heidecker, III, a veterinarian and his wife Jennifer of Mechanicsburg, PA, 2 grandsons, Michael and Matthew VanAmburg. Also left behind is a sister, Ruth Ann Clark of Florida, and 2 brothers, Ronald D. West, Jr. of Pittsburgh, PA and Stephen West of Mansfield, PA.
A church memorial service will be held at the Carlisle Reformed Presbyterian Church, 14 Westminster Drive, Carlisle on October 15, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. A private family burial service will be held at a later date. The family will greet relatives and friends one hour prior to the service.
