JOHN E. WILLIAMSON

John E. Williamson, 89, of 442 Walnut Bottom Road, Carlisle and formerly of Gettysburg died Thursday, Feb. 2, 2006 in the Thornwald Home, Carlisle.

Born Sept. 1, 1919 in New Albany, IN, he was a son of the late Jesse (Boss) and Mary Beach Williamson.

Mr. Williamson was retired from the US Air Force after 23 years of service. He had served in Panama, Burma and Japan and ultimately retired from the former Olmstead Air Force Base, Middletown. He then was employed by IBM and eventually retired from there.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Beach Williamson.

Surviving are his wife of 64 years, Ethel B. Harting Williamson. They would have celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on Feb. 22, 2006. Also surviving are a son: Craig (husband of Tina) Williamson of Carlisle; a daughter: Mary B. (wife of Kim) Carson of Mechanicsburg; 2 brothers: Jesse Williamson of Louisville, KY and Donald Williamson of Huddleston, VA; 6 grandchildren: Christopher, Caroline and Nathan Williamson, Lori Shaffer. Jenny Jamerson and David Garvey and 5 great grandchildren: Armando and Cassandra Williamson, Kara Shaffer, Hannah Jamerson and Ethan Garvey and a niece: Bonnie Bandy

Private services will be held at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville. There will be no viewing or visitation.

Ronan Funeral Home, Carlisle, is in charge of arrangements.
