RICHARD L. MYERS

Richard L. Myers, 82, of Green Ridge Village, Newville, and formerly of Carlisle, died Sunday, Jan. 29, 2006 in the Village.

Born April 9, 1923 in South Middleton Township, Cumberland County, he was a son of the late Herman W. and Florence Mentzer Myers. He was the widower of Rhoda H. Steinour Myers who died Oct. 23, 2004.

Mr. Myers was a retired construction manager for Cumberland Valley Buildings. He had also been employed by McCoy Brothers Contracting.

He had attended Boiling Springs High School and was a former Committee Member of BSA Troop 171, Boiling Springs. He had also served on the Neighborhood Committee for the BSA.

Additionally, he was a member of the former Boiling Springs Golden Age Club, Carlisle Fish and Game, AARP, the MORA Club of Carlisle, the Boy Scout Order of the Arrow and St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Boiling Springs.

He was preceded in death by two brothers: F. ALvin and Wilbur H. Myers; a sister: Alta Mae Keller and a daughter: Norma Gentile.

Surviving are two sons: Donald J. (husband of Jane) Steinour of Carlisle and Richard L. (husband of Corrine) Myers, Jr. of Shippensburg; two grandchildren: Ketha (wife of Paul) Ranck and Travis Myers; two great grandchildren: Erica and Tony Ranck, a son-in-law: Donald Gentile and several nieces and nephews.

Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 am Thursday, February 2, 2006 in his church, Second and Walnut Streets, Boiling Springs. The Rev. Carolyn S. DeStephano will officiate. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in Westminster Memorial Gardens, Carlisle. Viewing will be at the church on Thursday from 10:30 -11:30 a m.
