SAMUEL T. “SAM” OTTEN


Samuel T. ”Sam” Otten, 80, of Carlisle, died Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2007 in the Church of God Home, Carlisle.

A son of the late Mildred Trone Otten, he was born Jan. 23, 1927 in Carlisle.

He had been employed at the Weis Market in Carlisle and also at SuperRite.

Mr. Otten was a US Navy Veteran.

He was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose #761, where he was a former officer, , Eagles Aerie #1299, the White Circle Club and VFW Post #477, and the Union Fire Co., all of Carlisle.

Sam was one of the founders of Carlisle Midget Football and had also coached softball. He greatly enjoyed bowling and golfing.

He was preceded in death by a son: Darryl P. Otten.

Surviving are his wife: Alta Smith Otten; a daughter: Candace and her husband David Hickey of Boiling Springs; three sons: Duane and his wife Lisa and David, both of Carlisle and Dennis of New York, NY; a sister: Constance Bierly of Chicago; a stepdaughter: Pamela Musser of Carlisle and two stepsons: Henry and Russell Musser, both of Bloserville; 9 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will conducted from the Ronan Funeral Home, 255 York Road, Carlisle on Saturday, Sept. 29, 2007 at 7:00 p.m. with the Rev. Daniel R. Mikesell officiating. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family. Viewing will be at the funeral home on Saturday from 6-7 pm.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be directed to the charity of the donor’s choice.
