LOIS M. KAGARISE

On Monday, February 19, 2007, Lois M. Kagarise, age 95, got her dearest wish, which was to join her beloved husband, Russel, for eternity.

In an era that did not encourage women to be independent and “business smart”, Lois took care of her widowed mother and advanced in a career as an executive secretary to top Pennsylvania state officials. The Second World War took her to Colorado and Oklahoma to join her husband, but they returned to the Harrisburg area after the war. After much searching, they found their dream home in an old, abandoned stone house in Perry County. They lovingly restored the house and fields-and created a family home-in which their daughter, Sandra, and her husband, Jerry, now live.

Lois and Russel were generous in their charitable giving, especially to the “Save the Children” organization. They were active in their church and gave to it generously.

Lois loved her husband, her family, her friends, her church, and all animals. She fed the wildlife outside her apartment till the day she died.

She will be missed by her daughter: Sandra M. Philpott and her husband, Jerry, of Duncannon; her grandson: Eric Weidner, and his wife, Kathy, of San Francisco; her grandson: Jason Weidner, and his wife Karin of Miami; her granddaughter: Jennifer Wilson. and her husband, David, of Fairfax, VA, and two great grandchildren: Joaquin Weidner and Madeline Marie Wilson, who never got to know their great grandmother, but who will know her through their parents’ memory of her.

Services will be held at 1:00 p. m. Saturday, February 24, 2007 from the Ronan Funeral Home, 255 York Road, Carlisle. Burial will follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Boiling Springs, There will be no viewing or visitation.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to the Save the Children, 54 Wilton Road, Westport, CT 06880.
