JOHN E. SHEAFFER

John E. Sheaffer, 83, of 566 Pine Road, Carlisle, died Monday, Feb. 6, 2006 in Carlisle Regional Medical Center.

Born March 17, 1922 in Carlisle, he was a son of the late Monroe Ellsworth and Irene Brady Sheaffer.

Mr. Sheaffer was a retired farmer, having worked at the Bixler Farms in Mt. Holly Springs for 56 years.

He was preceded in death by a brother: George Monroe Sheaffer and a sister: Mary Elizabeth Myers.

Surviving are his wife of 61 years: Mae Wilson Sheaffer; 2 sons: John W., husband of Shirley Sheaffer of Newville and Raymond E. and his companion Minnie P. Thomas of Mt. Holly Springs; a daughter: Loretta Bernhisel and her companion Rich Kuhn of Gardners; 3 sisters: Ruth Hoover and Alice Whilman, both of Carlisle and Martha Vicinski of Shippensburg; 8 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday from the Ronan Funeral Home, 255 York Road, Carlisle, with the Rev. Robert Stauffer officiating. Burial will be in Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens. Viewing will be at the funeral home on Wednesday evening (tonight) from 6-8 p.m.
