VELVA A. GETTLE

Velva A. Gettle, 78, of Newville, died Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2005 in Carlisle Regional Medical Center.

Born June 30, 1927 in Penn Township, Cumberland County, she was a daughter of the late T. Floyd and Bessie V. Foltz Gettle.

Miss Gettle was retired from Swaim Health Center, Newville, where she was a receptionist. She had also worked at the former C. H. Masland and Sons and as a seamstress at the U-Wanna-Wash Frock Company, Newville.

She was a member of the Newville First Church of God where she had faithfully served on several committees. She was also a member of AARP and CGWM.

She was preceded in death by two brothers: Kenneth and Elmer Gettle and a half brother: Caleb Bloser.

Surviving are a sister: Ruth, wife of John “Jack” Stouffer of Newville; a sister-in-law: Hazel R. Gettle, of Newville, seven nieces and nephews and several great nieces and nephews.

Private graveside services will be held in Westminster Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Wayne Good officiating. There will be no viewing or visitation.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Repair and Building Fund of her church, 475 Shippensburg Road, Newville, Pa 17241.
