BLAKE A. MYERS


Blake A. Myers, 50 of Boiling Springs and Rockville, Md, died recently in Rockville.

Born March 21, 1956 in Carlisle, he was a son of Betty J. Fuhrman Myers of Boiling Springs and the late Marlin E. Myers.

Mr. Myers was a 1974 graduate of Boiling Springs High School.  Blake recently retired from United States Navy after serving 24 years active duty as a Quartermaster.  His last ship assignment was the USS La Salle, homeported in Italy.  His last command was as Quartermaster for the U.S. Naval Observatory in Washington DC.  During his military career, he received his AA in Horticulture, attended Boston University, and taught Celestial Navigation at MIT.  In addition, he continued to pursue music and enjoyment of astronomy.   

Surviving in addition to his mother are his wife: Christina M. Stempleski Myers of West Nanticoke; a sister: Anita, wife of Gary Lanious of Carlisle; a niece: Hannah Lanious, a nephew: Ethan Lanious and numerous aunts and uncles.

Graveside services with military honors will be held at 3:00 p.m. Monday, January 22, 2007 in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Boiling Springs. Memorial services will follow at 4:00 p.m. at St. John Lutheran Church, Boiling Springs, with the Rev. Carolyn S. DeStephano officiating. The family will greet relatives and friends in the church social hall immediately following the service.
